Myology 2005
The International forum of Myology.
Since 1958, we have been fighting relentlessly
against neuromuscular disorders that affect our children, our
parents or our sibs. Finding a cure is urgent, the priority that
directs our strategy. In our fight, we have a prominent ally :
the medical and scientific community. Thanks to the advances made
over the past twenty years, our diseases are no longer forgotten
or subject to therapeutic negligence. Knowledge about muscle is
becoming more accurate, therapeutic avenues are thriving, and
the number of clinical trials in humans is booming. Undoubtedly,
myology has become one of the key disciplines in clinical research
worldwide.
In order to share with you the latest advances and address the
emerging possibilities, we invite you to attend our second Congress
of Myology in Nantes, May 9-13, 2005. Over 1000 scientists and
clinicians from many countries participated in our last forum
in 2000 in Nice. We are looking forward to welcome even more people
for a fruitful and interactive congress.
Laurence Tiennot-Herment
Chairwoman of AFM
Because of its rich and excellent program, Myology 2005 will review
the considerable progress at the international level in recent
years in functional genomics, biology and physiology of the muscular
system, as well as in the development of innovative therapies
for neuromuscular diseases. As in all the colloquia organized
by AFM, Myology 2005 will feature world leaders in the field.
Myology, thanks to the vigorous action of AFM and the very high
quality of the concerned world scientific community, is now a
discipline of its own. I am very honored and happy to be invited
to preside over this colloquium. I invite you to participate in
large numbers, and it is my fervent hope that new research directions
and new strategies will grow out of your work.
Professor Ketty Schwartz
President of Myology 2005
